Mr. Gandhi’s homeroom students have commenced with a project supporting the Pine Street Inn, the homeless shelter in Boston. These students plan to donate food for breakfast for the next five months. In addition to providing shelter for the homeless, the Pine Street Inn serves 3000 meals a day, 365 days a year. Mr. Gandhi’s homeroom students are very excited to be part of this experience of helping others. They have made presentations to all 6th and 7th grade homerooms and want all of them to be part of this worthwhile project. The food items we are looking for are: Whole Grain Cereals, Canned Fruit, Sugar and Hot Chocolate Packets. The website for Pine Street Inn is www.pinestreetinn.org
As of March 17, 2010, we have donated 40 boxes of whole grain cereals, 27 cans of fruit, 27 lbs of sugar and 470 hot chocolate packets. We are looking forward to continue this for the next 3 months.
This has been a wonderful project to have our students learn that even at their young age they can make an impact on lives of others and in the process experience the joy of helping others.
Thanks for your support!
Mr. Gandhi
